Autumn excursion by highway bus
I love watching football. As the 3 consecutive holidays in autumn, I was thinking about going to watch football games for a little bit far from my home. I searched the game which was scheculed during 3 consecutive holidays and was able to go and back in one day. First I was planning to go to Kashima, but I decided to go Matsumoto, Nagano.
There are football teams in Nagano. Matsumoto-Yamaga FC, which belongs to J-league division 2 and was to renown of Naoki Matsuda passing away. AC Nagano Parceiro, which is aiming to join J-league division 3 next year. I watched game of Matsumoto-Yamaga FC last year, vs Ventforet Kofu last year.
Regarding Matsumoto-Yamaga FC, it is famous as so many supporters who visits their home stadium. I also hope to visit stadium which is called 'Arwin'.
Otoso is not able to go out because his size is big, but he has insisted on 'good boy'.
OK. I take him. "Wow, oink."
I go out with big Otoso. My husband bag was full by Otoso.
There are mainly two ways to go to Matsumoto. One is using train, the other one is using highway bus. We choose highway bus since it is much cheaper than train from the cost point of view.
There are so many scheduled buses from Shinjuku to Matsumoto, it cost less than 3,000 yen per person on one way.
There were so many people at Shinjuku highway bus terminal in the early morning. It seemed to me that many people go to far due to nice weather.
We got in the bus departing 7:50 a.m. to Matsumoto. Expected arrival time was around 11:00 a.m.. Kick off time of today's game was 1:00 p.m., so we intended to eat buck wheat noodle, it is popular food in Matsumoto, before we went to the stadium.
This is inside of the bus. I felt like excursion when I was elementary school student.
Otoso was very exciting because he got in the bus for the first time.
Oops, though here was around Eifuku at Shuto highway, but the bus had already been in heavy traffic jam. Oh, I slightly estimated it...
But we don't worry about traffic jam, there was rest room in the bus. It was very clean and spacy.
In addition, there was foot rest at each seat, so it was very comfortable. Though there are several kind of buses, there was no foot rest on the returning bus to Tokyo.
We arrived at Dangozaka Service Area in 2.5 hours from departure. It was break time, but here was nearer than scheduled, it should have been Futaba Service Area. We should have been thankful to driver for his effort on driving on traffic jam. Dangozaka Service Area become very clean than we were here at last time.
There was Starbucks Coffee Shop, so I bought a cup of coffee.
It was very fine weather, so Otoso was very happy.
Here is located at Yamanashi prefecture. There was cue in front of 'Tori Motsu Ni' shop. 'Tori Motsu Ni'is popular food at Kofu city, Yamanashi prefecutre and got Grand Prix at B-1, reasonable food competition. After twenty minutes break, bus restarted for Matsumoto. I think such break is one of pleasure of traveling by bus.
Bus was running smoothly after getting out of traffic jam, but it delayed and already past expected arrival time. It was about noon. We became hungry. We had rice ball by using rice with chestnut which I cooked last day and have it with Otoso.
Scenary from the window gradually bacame field.
After 5 hours from departure, we arrived at Matsumoto Bus Terminal.
Let's go Arwin
There were some shuttle bus to Arwin by 12:30, but the time was around 13:00, so no shuttle bus.
We had to choose another way to go to Arwin, so we used ordinary bus whose went to near by Arwin. Route number 71 to 75, going to Shinshuu Matsumoto Airport, were useful to go to Arwin. We were good timing because there was bus departing 13:10. We got off at Kambayashi bus stop, it cost 400 yen from Matsumoto Bus Terminal and we had to walk for a while to Arwin.
There was a man who got off at same bus stop, I asked him to go to Arwin. He said so. We walked with him. He was supporter of Sagan Tosu, and he was living in Matsudo, Chiba prefecture. He usually goes to stadium when game vs Sagan Tosu was around Kanto area.
He questioned me which team I support. I said no supporting team, I just wanted to go to Arwin. He was surprised at such kind of people. Yes, I should be a little bit strange...
Walking around 15 minutes with discussing football, we were able to see Arwin.
We said good bye to him because we had Matsumoto-Yamaga side tickets. The first half had already ended.
Arwin is exclusive stadium for football and it had been renewed recently. There was a certain inclination at audience area so it is comfortable to watch the game. I should also refer to nice view around stadium. We could see nice mountain view due to nice weather.
The game was 3rd match of Emperor's cup. The audience of the rally is usually not so many, but there were about 8,800 person at the stadium.
Since our arrival at stadium was so late, several food had already been sold out. Papa bought fried pizza and beer. “It was very delicious, oink.”
It was nearly full at the back of the Yamaga's goal, so supporting volume was very high. I was amazed.
Regarding the game, Sagan Tosu got one goal at the first half, Yamaga got one goal at the second half. Emperor's cup is tournament, so the game went to extended rally. We were happy to see extended rally since we arrived at Arwin late.
Sagan Tosu got penalty kick at secoond half of extended rally, the score became 2-1. In addition Sagan Tosu got a goal around the time of 10 minutes of second half of extended rally. We believed Sagan Tosu would be winner so we left the stadium at the time to use shuttle bus to Matsumoto Bus Terminal.
The stadium staffs were not familiar with the stadium since there was difference in conductor between J-league and emperor's cup. We tried to ask several people where the shuttle bus was departing, but we managed to get the correct answer after asking several people.
Shuttle bus takes us to the Matsumoto Bus Terminal by 500 yen. Arwin is located far from central area of Matsumoto, so there are many people to go to Arwin by car or bicycle. I think shuttle bus is very convinient.
Matsumoto Bus Terminal is directly connected to 'Ario' which is shopping center related to Ito Yokado, Japanese famous super market. We searched some souvenir because we had some free time. We firstly bought 'Nozawana' which is Japanese green vegetable pickle and popular food around Matsumoto area. We bought it cheaply because we could get it at super market.
Secondly, we got local wine. Matsumoto area is also popular with grape and there are several winery.
In additon, we bought some snacks to eat at returning bus.
We felt some hungry. We really wanted to eat buck wheat noodle, but we couldn't find opening buck wheat restaurant. I believed it was bad timing, now it was break time between lunch and dinner. We entered ramen shop regrettably. Otoso seemed to be happy, 'cyuru, cyuru.(This is sound of eating ramen.)'. I strongly recommended you not to drink the soup because it is made of pork bone....
We got in bus bound for Shinjuku departing at 17:30. Scheduled arrival time is 20:20.
This trip might be hard schedule. I fall asleep soon after bus started. When I woke up, bus was on highway, but it had already been in traffic jam. There were so many people to go out today. I was very optmistic at early stage, then fall asleep again. When I woke up again, bus was around Kofu, Yamanashi prefecture. The sign told me 35km traffic jam around Kobotoke tunnel. Wow, heavy traffic jam!
This information is usually accurate. The time bus encountered traffic jam around 20:00, and the time bus went thorough it around 22:00. There were still 50km to Shinjuku. We gradually worried about arriving Shinjuku by last train to my home.
As a result, bus arrived at Shinjuku around 23:15. It took about 6 hours from Matsumoto to Shinjuku. We could use train to my home.
Bus driver had continuously drived 4 hours after having break at Futaba Service Area. I really appreciated him.
Trip by bus is very cheap, but we can't help avoiding traffic jam. Next time we plan to use bus, we should use train for returning.
